I usually practice English with Japanese
friends to get high mark in the speaking test at IELTS after our class finish
but we talked about a different thing from some IELTS topics, which is the
reason why we want to go to the UQ.
Some of them have a clear purpose to go to the UQ, for example, communicating with native speakers to improve their English, leaving the ICTE as soon as possible to know bigger world and joining an internship program to find what they want to find in the future. On the other hand, I hadn't found what I want to do in the UQ and I almost gave up taking 6.5 at IELTS test to go to the UQ. Because I couldn't go to EAP class and I also didn't have any confidence to follow new class. But one of my friends told me you should think your new class as a big chance because there are many people who can speak English very well around you, which is a hard situation for you at first but that will make not only your English but also your personality better. The other friend also said that every time you face with tough situation, you often make an excuse to protect yourself, which isn't good for you.
Owing to them, I realized my weakness and decided to change myself so even if I can't change my class, I will definitely do my best to take 6.5 at IELTS test. Actually, I haven't find what I want to do in the UQ now but I want to be a patient person, which is one of my goals in my study abroad.
Hi there
ReplyDeleteYes, your friend who gave you advice is correct - you are in a great situation to improve your English and your classmates can help you a lot! Have confidence and go for the 6.5!
A language note: "I usually practice English with Japanese friends to get high mark in the speaking test at IELTS after our class finish but we talked about a different thing from some IELTS topics, which is the reason why we want to go to the UQ." this should be: I usually practice English with my Japanese friends to get a high mark in the speaking test in the IELTS after our class finishes but we talk about a different things about some IELTS topics, which is the reason why we want to go to the UQ.".
Good luck!
